Meet a Lowcountry Dog: Dale

Dale is an almost 7-year-old Labrador/Springer Spaniel mix. She loves playing with her litter-mate brother, Junior (as in Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Junior), and carrying her “babies” (stuffed toys) around the house. She thinks a good bone is pretty fantastic, too.

Dale is sweet, loving, and very gentle. Recently, she had bilateral FHO (hip surgery). She is currently learning to walk again. This is such a memorable time for us as we have been able to watch the patience and tenacity she has had throughout these months of recovery. She makes me smile every day.

Dale and Junior play together all the time. They love to retrieve together, each on one side of a toy or bumper, even in the water. When they are playing tug-of-war, if one drops their end, the other will wait patiently for the other to grab on again. Their purpose is to play TOGETHER, not compete. They teach me every day about cooperation.
