Meet a Lowcountry Dog: Sawyer

Sawyer (his full name, though we’ve forgotten exactly how he got it, is Sawyer Beans Doodley Doo Reichhold) is a male Weimaraner that just celebrated his 2nd birthday on the 12th. There have been so many memorable moments with Sawyer.  Recently, we have been blessed with the birth of our first child, Emma.  Naturally, we were concerned with how Sawyer would adjust to having a baby in the house and not being “first” anymore.  To our pleasant surprise, he seems to love his baby sister.  He frequently lays down next to us on the couch and tries to lick her.

Sawyer’s favorite activities are playing fetch, running around the house after taking a bath, and playing with our neighbors’ Golden Retriever, Lucky.  He also loves riding in the car and going camping.  We had to start saying “C-A-R” because he’d get so excited if he heard the word.  Go figure he’s learned what “C-A-R” means, too!

Sawyer is full of life and energy.  There’s not a day that goes by that he doesn’t have us in stitches with his antics.  He can be quite a handful, but after he gets some energy out, he loves nothing more than to lay on the couch and relax.  He is such a cuddle bug! Aside from loving him like no other animal we’ve ever known, Sawyer has helped us become a more active family.  We are constantly looking for dog-friendly activities and places to visit.  He has brought us so much happiness.
