Meet a Lowcountry Dog: Bo & Abby

Bo, Abby, & the new addition to the family, Chica

Bo is  a Golden Retriever and a big boy. He turned five on March 5th. My most memorable moment with Bo was after a ski accident two years ago, Bo became my service dog. I had four surgeries on my shoulder and he knew how pull me up when I put my left hand under his collar after only a few instructions. His personality is laid back, and he is a gentle giant.

He LOVES the water and goes to James Island frequently and will play ball with anyone. Fly fishing on small streams for native brown trout, he knows to stay behind, after I catch he goes sight fishing with his paws behind me, never caught a fish, doesn’t matter.

Bo has taught me time flies. It seems like yesterday he was a round ball of fur, one of eleven pups, navigating stairs to reach me first, now he is going on five, and happy to see me even if I am only gone for five minutes! Patience, fishing without rewards!

Abby is my female Golden and will be 2 on July 4th. She is wiser than her age and has been “grown up” since I met her. Bo has taught her well, potty trained her thru a doggie door how to walk on leash and be all around well mannered. My most memorable moments are every day with her! Abby loves running, swimming, playing with other dogs maybe not so much with cats. Abby is exuberant, and always looking for new adventures. She has changed my life with her exuberance and loyalty.
